I don’t think I’d heard the term blocked care before, but it’s a good description…almost like there’s an actual physical barrier. I wonder how we as a church could help to be a support in those situations more.
Maggie, yes! I was just reading more in this Reclaim Compassion book. I love how it normalizes the challenges many adoptive or foster parents face, and speaks to the shame many feel as well. But you have a good thought about how the church can help. At the very least, the support of other adoptive parents is necessary and so helpful for me personally.
